After Mom Almost Died Of Breast Cancer, Teen Invents New Bra That Could Save Millions

-

This teen was inspired by the horror of cancer to create something incredible.

18 year old Julian Rois Cantu watched as his Mom battled, and almost lost her life to cancer.

The awful situation he found himself in inspired him to create something which would help others in the same situation in the future.

At the age of just 13 Julian’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Caught at a rather late stage, he had an idea to detect breast cancer earlier, to ensure others didn’t have to go through the same amount of painful treatments as his mother.

Julian blames the late stage of detection for his mothers cancer for the pain she had to go through. His idea was to ensure other breast cancer sufferers were caught an an earlier stage.

He set about constructing a special breast cancer detector bra, with the help of sensors and temperature gauges, could help spot breast cancer at the very early stage, leading to earlier treatment which is much more effective.

The bra works by detecting changes in the breast, which changes temperature as more blood flows to where the tumor is forming. “When there is a tumor in the breast there is more blood, more heat, so there are changes in temperature and in texture,” Julian says.

The bra, which is the first of its kind, works with a paired app which collects the data and analyzes it, checking for anomalies. The bra only needs to be worn for 60 to 90 minutes a week to collect the data needed.

Julian and his team were awarded the top Global Student Entrepreneur Awards prize for their creation and the product is expected to be on the market in the next 2 years.

See how the bra performs in the video below:
