Self-proclaimed prophet Alec Ndiwane leader of the Zion Church got his backside mauled by a lion while on safari.
In an effort to prove “the Lord’s power over animals,” he ran straight for a pride in the “name of the Lord” reports The Daily Mail via GhanaWeb.
Ndiwane was attempting to show his fellow congregation that God would intervene on his behalf and save him from what was undoubtedly a reckless act of idiocy.
He is reported to have fallen into a trance and to have started speaking in tongues before charging a pride of lions eating an impala in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.
He allegedly said of the incident:
“I do not know what came over me. I thought the Lord wanted to use me to show his power over animals. Is it not we were given dominion over all creatures of the earth?” (No, it is not.)
The ventured martyr realized the Lord had no intention of coming to his aid as soon as the lions abandoned their meal to focus on a what was certainly an easy next meal. He turned to flee back to car, but was bitten on the ass.
The since-deleted GhanaWeb article reported that Ndiwane was rushed to the hospital to get some stitches, but was released soon afterwards.
The spokesman of Kruger National Park, William Mabasa, denied knowledge of the event. “It would have been reported to us if any of our rangers had taken part in this incident as reported,” he said.
Like they say: Stupid should hurt.
