Who says cats and dogs can’t be friends?

In scenes reminiscent from a Disney film this cat and dog best friend pairing have captured the hearts of the world.

Henry and Baloo are the furry friends of couple Cynthia Benet and her boyfriend.

After deciding that it was time for them to get a dog together, the pair went on the hunt, Benet however had already decided that she wanted a golden retriever mix.

But after first laying eyes on Henry, she said it was love at first sight. Benet said that Henry was five times bigger than any of the other dogs they had seen but she couldn’t resist and just had to have him.

Benet said:

“I think we only had him for three days when we took him on our first hike. He found the steepest, tallest rock around, and he ran up to the top of it to look over the edge.”  That’s when they started calling him their little “mountain goat.”

After a couple of months with Henry, however, the pair decided that they wanted to expand their family, and decided that a cat would be the perfect companion for Henry. They searched and eventually found a Siamese-mix kitten.

Again Benet describes how the animal chooses the owner, not the other way round.

She said:

“He ran right up to me,” and “And he was the one who played, but he wasn’t the most rowdy.”

His name was Baloo, and all they had to do now was introduce him to his big brother.

Many people are wary about housing cats and dogs together, but from the moment they met, Henry and Baloo have been the perfect example of animal kinship.

Benet and her partner are fans of hiking, and they soon started to bring their fur-babies along with them, something which they quickly learned to love.

Benet has spoken of the change they have seen in Baloo since he stated coming on adventures with them.

She said:

“He’s definitely not the kind of cat we can leave home alone on the weekend anymore,”

“I think he thinks he’s more a dog than anything.”

The heartwarming pictures are taken from Benet’s Instagram page, showing how cats and dogs can really get on.
